House Fire in Alton
June 17th, 2007

Not exactly what you want for Fathers Day but that is exactly what one of our fellow firefighters got in Alton on Sunday. Wallington went mutual assistance with a Tanker and manpower to the scene to assist with a possible house fire. The homeowner whom himself is a firefighter extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher but was afraid it had gotten into the walls. The homeowner with smart thinking got his family out first and then the pets. The damage was contained to the kitchen area where the fire started behind the stove. The use of home smoke detectors was very vital in this home as it woke the family up from what could have been disastrous. On scene was Alton E-56, E-1, R-4, AM-56, TA-6, North Rose M-18 AND a Tanker, Rose E-55, and Wallington M-32, and Tanker -22 as well as 13 of our firefighters. There were about 40 firefighters total. Good job by all to save the structure and still have a Happy Fathers Day....
