Mutual Aid To Alton House Fire
February 27, 2007

Around 6 pm on the eve of Tuesday the 27th, Wallington was called into Alton for a fill in crew in their station. Upon arrival to their hall, the chimney fire turned out to be a structure fire. W.F.D. was quickly called into service to assist at the scene as a F.A.S.T. Team, and manpower. Alton, with the assistance of North Rose F.D. and Wallington Engine Co., made a quick stop on the fire, keeping damage to a minimum. Sodus F.D. stood by in the Wallington fire hall to cover for the departments. Wallington responded with Engine 40, M-32, Cars 24 -2 -3 -4 and 16 firemen. Great job to all departments involved!

Wallington, along with at least 13 other agencies from 2 counties, fought a very big industrial fire in the town of Arcadia. Tankers where used due to there being no hydrants in the immediate area. W.F.D. responded with 2 tankers and a rescue unit for manpower. 18 firefighters responded from W.F.D. Wallington was in service for 6 hours. Great job by all those who took part in this very difficult fire. Having to fight not just the fire but the elements of Mother Nature the snow and cold conditions

 

1 Car M.V.A
February 23, 2007

In the early morning hours of Friday, around 4 AM, The Wallington Engine Co. responded to a reported one-car off the road on Ridge Road in the hamlet of Wallington. Upon arrival, Car 24-3 found one car in a snow bank. There were no injuries. The driver was there just waiting for a tow. Engine 39 responded and was code 2 upon arrival. Roads where snow covered and blowing snow may have been a factor. 10 firefighters responded. The scene was turned over to the N.Y. State Troopers. All units went back into service shortly there after.

 

2-Car M.V.A.
February 22, 2007

Thursday afternoon the Wallington Engine Co. responded to a two car M.V.A, at the intersection of state route 104 and Burlee Road. There were no injuries and both patients signed off. Wallington responded with Engine 39, and M-32 as well as car 24-3 was command. 10 Fireman responded from W.F.D. They where assisted by Wolcott Vol. Ambulance as well as the Wayne County Sheriffs Department.

 

Reported one-car M.V.A.

February 18, 2007:

Wallington responded to a reported one car M.V.A on Boyd Rd. and Glover Rd. at around 9:30 PM on Sunday. It turned out to be a  S.U.V. in the ditch with no injuries.  Wallington car 24-2, 3, 4 were on scene within minutes of the call and all equipment was held in quarters. Assisted at the scene by N.Y. State trooper and Sodus Point medic 1.

Water Rescue 5 Snowmobilers
February 10, 2007:

On 2-10-2007 Wallington Engine Co. went mutual assistance with many other departments with manpower for ice rescue, as 5 snowmobilers went through the ice on Sodus Bay. Two made it to shore, the rest had to be pulled and rescued from the water. A hovercraft from Monroe Co. was called in from the Seabreeze F.D. to help, as well as ice rescue teams from Sodus Point. Wolcott, North Rose, Wallington, Alton, & Clyde rescue teams were on stand-by. Ambulances from At least 7 agencies, as well as a helicopter for lighting. All will make a full recovery. Great team work by all Departments involved.

February 10, 2007:

On the evening of the tenth, Wallington Engine Co. went mutual aid into Alton to Assist them with checking for extension in a house that had a chimney fire. Wallington Responded with M-32 Car 24-1, and 24- 3, as well as 5 firefighters. Quick search of the walls and chimney and Wallington went back into service a short time later.

February 5, 2007:

W.F.D. went mutual aid with the Thermal Imaging camera to assist Alton F.D. with a chimney fire, to help check for extension into the house . All was secured , and Wallington cleared the scene shortly after arrival . Responding unit was M-32 along with 10 Firemen.

Car Fire - Code 5
February 4, 2007:

Wallington responded to a car fire near the structure and other vehicles. State police on scene reported working car fire with vehicle moved away from house, and other cars. Wallington Responded with E-40 and M-32 as well as 13 fireman and cars 24-1,2,3,4. Temperature at the time was between 5 and 10 below zero.

Gas smell in house
January-31-2007

Homeowners daughter came home to smell a strong odor of gas in the house. Upon arrival the Wallington Engine Co. discovered a gas can had been knocked over in the garage and gas had pored onto the floor. Quick clean up bye the W.F.D. and all trucks went back into service shortly thereafter. On scene was (24-2, 24-3 AND ENGINE 40, M-32 AS WELL AS ABOUT 10 FIREMAN.)

Snowmobile M.V.A. & Mercy Flight 07
January 21, 2007:  Wallington responded to a snowmobile that ran into a building. Upon arrival the patient was unconscious. Mercy flight was landed at the scene but did not transport. The patient went by ground with (Sodus Center AM-12 and Medic 82).  Engine 39, M-32 and 24-1, 3, 4 were all on the scene as well as 17 members. At the same time of this call, Sodus had a two car M.V.A. (head-on) On Lake & Pulver Road. Many agencies were used on this call.  Mercy Flight: two choppers, Sodus Fire and Rescue, Wallington, Sodus Town Ambulance: two rigs, Alton Ambulance, Sodus Point Ambulance, & East Williamson. Due to the nature of the call, MCI incident was declared. F.D. Extrication was done on one vehicle. It was a long hard day in Sodus. Our hearts and prayers go out to all involved, and the families of those loved ones lost. Stress debriefing will be Tuesday at the Wallington F.D. for all those involved in either/both incidents.
