Assist Into Sodus Center for brush fire

Wallington Engine Company went mutual assistance into Sodus Center for a brush fire out of control on South Geneva Road. Wallington responded with two units M-32, and Engine 40. A number of firefighters also assisted at the scene from both departments. Was over in a short period of time and all units went back into service.


Assist with Alton F.D. for Fire Police and Mercy Flight Landing Zone

Wallington Engine Company was called upon again to assist the Alton F.D. with a one car roll over on Glover Road. Actually in Wallington’s district but the original call came in as State Route 14 and Glover Road witches is Alton’s District. Wallington sent fire police to block off Glover Road and Boyd Road with M-32 and 5 Firefighters. Car 24-3 was command there. W.F.D. was also asked for a Mercy Flight Landing Zone at their station Where Car 24-1 and 24-4 took command as well as E-39 and 5 other firefighters. Mercy flight was unable to fly do to weather and the patient had to be rushed to the city by ground. Also assisting at the scene was Sodus Town A.L.S. and Wayne County Sheriffs Department as well as County Car 1.


House Explosion In Sodus Center

Wallington Engine Company along with the Sodus Fire Department went Mutual assistance into Sodus Center for a reported house explosion. Upon arrival the house was completely leveled and no fire present. The homeowner, believe it or not, was inside her kitchen when the explosion occurred and made it out with only scratches. Investigation at this time is ongoing and the propane tank has been taken away for testing. Wallington assisted with clean-up and stood by for a few hours. Also assisting at the scene where Wayne County Sheriffs Department, County Fire Coordinator, and many other such agencies to help determine the cause of this accident.


Assist With M.V.A In Sodus
Aug 17th, 2007

Wallington Engine Company was called to assist the Sodus Fire Department with an Engine to the scene of an M.V.A., but was cancelled in-route as the scene was secured and 19-2 cancelled the response. Wallington stood by in-house untill Sodus was back in service a short time later. Also assisting was Sodus Town Ambulance and Sodus Center Ambulance.


BREAKING NEWS:  Tuesday night at the monthly commissioners meeting  the commissioners of the W.F.D. the bid for a 2008 E-One Rescue truck to be built on a M -2 Frieghtliner chassis. with a 20 foot walk in body, was approved.  A 8-12 month timeframe is expected. Will post more on this when we have pics and other information. This unit will be replacing the 1979 Van that we have now that no longer is OSHA compliant and is over loaded

A.M.A With Sodus F.D. Possible Apartment Fire

Wallington Engine Company went A.M.A. with Sodus Fire Department to a possible apartment fire at 15 Rotterdam Road in the village of Sodus. W.F.D. responded with Engine 40 and M-32, as well as 18 Firefighters. There was no fire, just a sported out heater in the basement. Also assisting was the Sodus Center Ambulance for standby on scene.


Tanker Assist To Lyons Working Barn Fire

Wallington Engine Company was called upon to assist the Lyons F.D. with a Tanker to the scene of a working barn fire around 10:45 a.m. W.F.D. responded with Tanker-22 which has 3200 gallons of water on board. Two members as well as Car 24-4 went to the scene about 20 miles from our station and assisted Lyons for well over 3 hours. The structure was a large barn over 50x200 feet and over two stories tall. There was a large amount of hay in side as well. Along with the Tanker, W.F.D. also had about 10 firefighters on standby at the station while the tanker was on assignment. Assisting Lyons was also Oaks Corners, Fairville, Marbletown, and the Newark F.D.
