3 Calls --- Carbon Monoxide Detector / Fire Police / Mercy Flight LZ

Wallington Engine Company as well as the Sodus Fire Department kept very busy together as they responded to 3 calls today. The first was at 11:00 am as W.F.D. was toned out A.M.A. with Sodus to a Carbon Monoxide Detector Activation with no illness reported at a residence on Mudd Lane. Wallington responded with E-40 and M-32 along with 8 firefighters while Sodus chief car 19-2 was command. Wallington was cleared from that scene at 11:16 am. The next two calls came a short time later at 15:52 as Sodus was working a 2 car M.V.A with entrapment at 6996 Ridge Road. Sodus requested Wallington to first shut down Ridge Road at Buerman Road. M-32 responded to take that assignment. At 15:59 Wallington was also requested to respond with an Engine to the Sodus High School to set up Mercy Flight landing zone. E-39 took this assignment. Wallington Chief 24-1 took the calls as well as 18 firefighters. All Wallington units were back in service at 16:57 hours.
Pole and Hydrant hit by Runaway Trailer
January 27th, 2008
Around 14:00 hours, Wallington Engine Company was requested by Wayne County Sheriffs to assist at a property damage accident. While the motorist was crossing the tracks on South Geneva Road just South of State Route 104, the trailer he was hauling came unhitched and took out a telephone pole and a fire hydrant. 24-2 and 3 arrived and closed the road down. 24-1 and 4 also assisted upon arrival and E-39 was on scene for standby while M-32 blocked traffic at 104. R.G&E. responded and the scene was turned over to them. 24-2 called all units code 2 and back in service around 14:50 hours. 11 firefighters were on hand to assist.
Working Shed Fire
January 26th, 2008
Wallington Engine Company was requested at 19:17 hours to respond to 7609 Ridge Road. Radio alarm from Wallington Truck Captain 24-05 reported a shed fire at that location. Wallington responded with E-40, Tanker-22 (Lake Wallington) and M-32 to the scene. 24-3 took command upon arrival and requested a trash line off of E-40 with TA-22 standing by. The fire was knocked down very quickly and there was minimal damage. Also assisting at the scene was Sodus Center AM-12. In all, 15 firefighters were on hand. 24-3 was assisted by 24-1 and 4, and cleared all units from the scene and back in service at 19:54.
Fire Police Assist Alton F.D. with MVA
January 24th, 2008
Wallington Engine Company was requested by the Alton F.D. to block off State Route 14 and State Route 104 at 12:25 pm on Thursday, January 24th. Wallington responded with M-32 to the scene and closed off the road while Alton was working the one-car MVA into a pole. There were no injuries reported but the car had to be towed away. The pole didn’t suffer any major damage either. Wallington cleared the scene and was back in service at 13:00 hours. Assisting also with Alton was County fly car Medic 84 and the Wayne County Sheriffs Department. Wallington had 6 firefighters present.
Assist Into Alton During Wind Storm

The area was hit hard with a windstorm this morning, the wind just topping out at 75 mph. With those kinds of wind speeds many trees fell and wires where taken out. Power was lost for a few hours in the area. Alton F.D. requested assistance from the W.F.D due to the number of calls at the same time in their area. Wallington Engine-40 responded to State Route 14 for primary wires down and live. RG& E responded shortly after E-40 showed up on scene and W.F.D. was released. A number of firefighters assisted during the day. Was a very busy day throughout the county for many fire departments.
Two men rescued from Sodus Bay
January 8, 2008
Wallington was dispatched around 3:30pm to assist the Sodus Point F.D. along with North Rose, and Alton F.D. Water rescue units for two ice boats that went through the ice and two men in the water. Wallingtons assignment was to set up a landing zone for Mercy Flight at the ball fields in the hamlet of Sodus Point. One man was taken by helicopter to Rochester, while the other went by ground ambulance. Quick work was done to rescue the men from the ice and no one was seriously injured. Wallington responded with M-32 and Engine-40 along with Wallington. Captain 24-05 was command assisted by 7 other Wallington firefighters. The assignment was cleared around 5pm. Wallington Requested for Help Lifting With Sodus Center Ambulance

Wallington was toned out for manpower to assist the Sodus Center Ambulance at a residence on Ridge Road in Wallington’s District for help lifting and moving a patient at 19:22 hours. Wallington 24-3 took the call with assistance from 4 other firefighters and helped move the patient to the ambulance. Wallington was cleared at 20:01 hours.
Standby for Sodus F.D. Working HOUSE Fire
January 5th, 2008
At 1:45am, less than 2 hours after their last call, Sodus F.D. was dispatched to a possible house fire on Allen Road. Wallington again was dispatched for an Engine crew and manpower to standby on their floor. Wallington had a full crew within 2 minutes of the call with 12 members present at the station. Sodus went on scene a short time later and upon arrival it was determined that the smoke in the house was caused by a boiler in the basement. The homeowner was checked by the Sodus Town Ambulance for smoke inhalation. Wallington was cleared from standby from Sodus Assistant Chief 19-2 at 2:45am.
Standby for Sodus F.D. Working Garage Fire
January 4th, 2008
Wallington Engine Company was toned out around 10:45pm to standby in-house with manpower and an Engine crew for the Sodus F.D. while they were working a garage fire attached to a house on Pratt Road. Sodus Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Sodus Town Ambulance, as well as the East Williamson Fire Department. Wallington was cleared from standby around 11:30pm. Wallington had 13 Firefighters in-house during the incident
