House Fire in Village of Sodus
April 30th, 2008

Wallington Engine Company was requested automatic mutual aid into Sodus for a possible house fire at 47 Mill Street at 15:22 hours. Chief on scene reported smoke showing. Wallington responded in less than 2 minutes with Rescue-32 and Engine-40 with 7 members on board. Sodus made a quick hit with a trash line to knock down the smoldering fire. A curling iron was left on in the bathroom causing heavy smoke threw out the house and minimal fire damage. Overhaul operations took care of any possible fire extension in the house and ventilation was done quickly. Sodus Chief 19-1 was command while 19-2 was interior, assisted by Wallington chief 24-3. The scene was secured and cleared at around 16:30 hours. Also assisting at the scene was Sodus Town Ambulance as well as Sodus Engine-27 and M-1.

April 25th, 2008

Around the lunch time hours of today Wallington Engine Co. was toned out automatically with the Sodus F.D. for an automatic alarm at 7 Newark street at The Estates. Engine-40 responded with a full crew. While at that location Wallington was banged out again for a carbon monoxide call with illness in their own district at 6463 North Geneva Road. Engine-40 was cleared from the Sodus alarm as it was a false trip and proceeded back to its own call while Rescue-32 also responded from the station. All units were clear a short time later. Assisting the Wallington F.D. at the call was the Sodus Town Ambulance.....


Large Brush Fire Involves 6 Departments In Wallington
April 20th, 2008

Wallington was called 12:43 hours for a chiefs investigation for a burn pile that a woman felt was out of control and getting near her property. Assistant chief 24-2 investigated the scene and it was determined action was needed. First request was for Tanker, Engine and Rescue to the scene along with Brush truck and manpower from Sodus Center. Shortly thereafter more requests went out as the winds were spreading the fire and it jumped a creek. 24-3 took the west side of the creek with 24-1, while 24-2 and 24-4 took the east side. Other units requested were: Sodus with a Brush truck and Tanker, Fairville with its off road rescue unit, Sodus Point with manpower and an Engine, and finally, Alton Fire Department also with manpower, Brush truck and 4 wheel drive Engine. The fire was a long-fought ordeal with hills and steep banks as well as a lot of brush, vines, prickers etc. The scene was secured and fire extinguished at 16:54 hours. Great job and good team work by all those involved. Also on-scene and standing by for us was Sodus Town Ambulance and Sodus Center Ambulance....

Standby and Brush Fire With Alton F.D
April 19th, 2008

Wallington had a busy day as did a lot of departments on the eastern part of the county. Wallington F.D. was put on standby first when all but one department on the eastern side of the county were out at calls for brush fires and a barn fire. Later in the day Wallington went with Alton F.D. to assist at a brush fire on State Route 14 South with a Tanker and Fire Police to block off the road. Quick work of this call made for a short call. Wallington units on these calls were TA-22 and the New Rescue-32 along with all chiefs and 18 firefighters.

Working Barn Fire
April 19th, 2008

Wallington Engine Company was requested by Lyons F.D. for one tanker to a working barn fire on Gantz Road just out side the Lyons Village limits in an area where there are no hydrants. Wallington responded with Tanker-22, Wallington Assistant Chief 24-3. and 3 firefighters. Six others stood by at the station. The call came in around 00:30 hours and Wallington went back into service around 3:45 hours. Also assisting Lyons was Fairville F.D., Marbletown F.D, Oaks Corners F.D., Newark F.D. along with Lyons ambulance. The barn was a complete loss. Some animals were lost in the fire as well.

Assist Lifting in Sodus Point

Around 17:30 hours Wallington Engine Company along with car 24-3 and 7 firefighters went mutual assistance into Sodus Point to help the ambulance lift an unresponsive patient. All units went back into service around 19:00 hours. This was also the first call our New Rescue-32 responded to as it just went into service the day before.

Brush Fire with Alton F.D.
April 18th, 2008

13:08 Wallington went mutual assistance into Alton today with Tanker-22 and a couple of firefighters, for a reported brush fire on Alasa Farms involving tires. Wallington was back in service about a half an hour later.


Assist Into Sodus Center For Working House Fire
April 11th, 2008

Wallington Engine Company was on the move again around 2:30 AM to assist the Sodus Center Fire Department with a working house fire. Wallington responded with Engine-40, Rescue-32 and Tanker-22 along with 21 firefighters and all 4 chiefs. A quick attack by the Sodus Center F.D. made for a nice knock down, keeping damage to a minimum. Over-haul took some time as wells were removed and taken outside due to hot spots in the structure. There was heavy smoke damage to the second floor as well as water on the first. Also assisting at the scene was the Sodus and Fairville F.D. Wallington cleared the scene and was back in service around 5:00 AM


Working Fire Sodus Point Highway Barns
April 9th, 2008

Wallington Engine Company responded to its third structure fire in less than a week. When the Sodus Point F.D. was dispatched at 16:23 hours to a working fire at the Village Barns, Wallington responded with Engine-40 and Rescue-32 as well as Chief cars 24-1,2,3, & 4. 23 firefighters from Wallington assisted as well. The highway barn was full of heavy black smoke. A quick attack by the Wallington and Sodus Point interior attack teams kept damage to a minimum. In all one tractor and one pickup truck was completely destroyed as the fire originated in one of these vehicles. Damage to a loader as well but can be repaired. All remaining trucks and a backhoe, as well as a skid steer were saved. Sodus Point was also assisted on scene by the Alton F.D. with North Rose F.D. on standby. All Wallington units went back into service at 17:37 hours. Great job by all departments involved!


Automatic Alarm With Sodus F.D.
April 9th, 2008

Wallington Engine Company was toned out at 14:03 hours automatically with Sodus F.D., on the A.M.A. agreement that the departments have during the day-time hours, for a fire alarm going off at 7 Newark Street in Sodus estates. Nothing was found and all Wallington units lead by Assistant Chief 24-2, along with Engine-40, Rescue-32, and 13 firefighters went back into service at 14:34 hours.

in Village of Sodus Fire

Sodus Hotel on fireWallington Engine Company along with 10 other fire departments and agencies went into the village of Sodus for a working commercial structure fire. Wallington responded with Engine- 40 and Rescue-32 as well as 33 firefighters to fight the blaze for more than 6 hours. Reported Working Structure Fire
April 3rd, 2008

Wallington Engine Company was requested by Sodus Fire Chief 19-1 to the scene of a reported structure fire around 19:25 hours while he was in route. There was a large amount of smoke in the area located on the Old Sodus Fruit Farm migrant camps, just off Lake road. Wallington responded with Engine-40, Rescue -32, and Tanker – 22, along with 25 firefighters and all chief cars. The fire was determined upon arrival by Sodus Chiefs to be a pile of debris that somebody had set on fire with a large amount of tires in it. Wallington was released around 20:15 hours with all units back in service at 20:25. Sodus Point Fire Department was also put on standby for a short time while these two departments were out at this call.......
