W.F.D. receives FEMA grant
11-30-06 The W.F.D. has received word that it will get $43,700 dollars for
station upgrades. The Wallington FD will be using the funds to install a
state-of-the-art 50K generator to power the entire fire station through
power outages. This will give people of the community a warm and safe
place to go when power is lost for a long period of time as well as the
fire department can operate at full capacity. This is something that has
been well needed ever since the ice storm of 2003 when power was lost in
the town for over a week. It’s definitely a plus for the WFD.
Construction has already started and contracts have been signed.
They
come in groups
10-31-06 In a 24-hour period, Wallington responded mutual assistance with the
Sodus F.D. to a reported stove fire on Monday and on Halloween,
responded to a water flow alarm in the Old Garlock's Plant with the
Sodus FD. These calls were in response to the mutual aid agreement we
have with them during the day from 6 am- 6 pm Monday through Friday. We
responded to our own call of a car fire at lot 14B Sodus mobile home
park. The fire was out when units arrived. That was a busy few hours for
both departments and a job well done!
MVA Mutual aid
with Sodus
10-18-06 Wallington went Mutual aid with Sodus today for a car versus semi. It
happened at the intersection of Pratt Rd. and 104. There were injuries;
one patient went via Ambulance to the city while the other went by Mercy
flight chopper. Wallington also assisted in extrication of one of the
victims with the jaws of life and also did fire policing. There was one
engine from Sodus, as well as an engine from East Williamson for Mercy
Flight landing. One Rescue from Sodus and an Ambulance from STAC (Sodus
Town Ambulance Corps.), a Rescue from Wallington, a County Fly Car
Medic-82, Fire Police from Sodus and Wallington. All together there
were about 25 members from both agencies. GREAT JOB BY ALL!
Parade Dominance Continues
8-12-2006 Wallington went to Clyde Saturday morning as defending champs of
waterball. Came home late that morning with two trophies. First place
again as well as a nice fourth place with two strong teams. That evening
Wallington marched literally into Clyde, and brought home best fire
department 14 and over 1st place. As well as best Engine/Tanker in the
parade the honor went to Tanker 22. Great job by all firefighters that
took part in Saturday's events. Thank you to all.
